White-themed buildings improve concentration: The futuristic library at Japan Women's University
Japan Women's University has a stylish library unified in white. It was designed by architect Kazuyo Sejima, a graduate of the university, and was opened in 2019 as part of the university's 120th anniversary project. The perimeter of the building is made up of ramps that loosely connect each floor, creating a bright and open space. Stylish small round tables are evenly lined up at the entrance providing a place for students to take a short break. Study spaces are located throughout the building, so you can choose where you want to study according to your mood. The library is also clean and comfortable, so the library’s atmosphere helps you concentrate, allowing you to get a lot of work done! Of course, the library is fully stocked with Japanese and foreign books as well as PCs, and going downstairs to the B1 level, there are many futuristic bookshelves that makes it feel like you are traveling back to the future. The outside of the building is an eye-catching slanted structure which is especially beautiful at night when the contrast between the darkness and the pure white lighting from the transparent glass walls can be seen. It is a sight to behold! The library is open every day except Sunday, so you can use it whenever you want to study in a free class period, search for books, make copies, or borrow a computer!
白基調で集中力アップ！日本女子大学の近未来な図書館
日本女子大学には、白で統一されたスタイリッシュな図書館があります。同大学の卒業生である建築家の妹島和世氏が設計したもので、同大学の120周年記念事業の一環として2019年にオープンしました。建物の外周はスロープで各フロアをゆるやかにつなぎ、明るく開放的な空間になっています。エントランスには、スタイリッシュな小さな丸テーブルが均等に並び、学生がちょっとした休憩を取れる場所になっています。自習スペースは館内各所に設けられており、気分に合わせて好きな場所で勉強することができます。また、図書館内は清潔で快適なので、集中力が高まり勉強がはかどります。もちろん、和書や洋書、PCも充実しており、地下1階に降りると、未来にタイムスリップしたかのような近未来的な本棚がたくさんあります。建物の外観は斜めの構造が目を引き、特に夜は暗闇と透明なガラス壁からの真っ白な照明とのコントラストが美しいです。思わず目を奪われてしまいます。図書館は日曜日以外は毎日開いているので、空いている時間に勉強したり、本を探したり、コピーしたり、パソコンを借りたりと、いつでも利用することができますよ。
